    ArdanShield Warranty Policy

Clear warranty guidance for ArdanShield smart lock, access control and commercial system products.

    Effective Date: 28 April 2026

These terms may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.

ArdanShield provides a 12-month limited hardware warranty on eligible products, while recognising that your statutory rights under UK consumer law remain unaffected.

    1. Scope of Warranty

ArdanShield products are covered by a 12-month limited hardware warranty from the original date of purchase.

This warranty covers confirmed manufacturing defects in materials, hardware, or internal electronic components under normal intended use.

Where a genuine manufacturing defect is confirmed within the warranty period, ArdanShield may, at its discretion:

    • Repair the product
    • Replace the product
    • Supply replacement components
    • Offer another reasonable remedy where appropriate

    2. ArdanShield’s Supply Position

ArdanShield supplies smart lock and access control products as a supplier and distributor. Products may be sourced from third-party manufacturers and supplied by ArdanShield.

Depending on the project, ArdanShield may also coordinate partner-delivered commercial systems through approved specialist providers.

Unless expressly agreed in writing, ArdanShield does not act as the manufacturer, installer, commissioning engineer, electrical contractor, fire safety consultant, building control adviser, or certifying authority.

    3. Installation Responsibility

Correct installation is essential for performance, safety, reliability, and longevity.

Unless installation is expressly included in writing, the purchaser, property owner, installer, or appointed contractor is responsible for:

    • Accurate door preparation
    • Correct latch, mortice, strike, backset, or hardware compatibility
    • Stable and square door and frame conditions
    • Correct strike plate positioning
    • Secure fixing of all components
    • Correct electrical wiring where applicable
    • Correct setup, pairing, configuration, and handover
    • Compliance with property-specific regulations and requirements

Faults caused by incorrect installation, unsuitable door conditions, wiring errors, or poor setup are not covered as manufacturing defects.

    4. Door Alignment and Structural Movement

Smart locks rely on correct door alignment and smooth mechanical operation. Doors and frames can move due to seasonal expansion, moisture, property settlement, hinge wear, high usage, or structural movement.

Issues caused by door movement, latch misalignment, frame distortion, hinge wear, sticking doors, or poor closure are considered maintenance or installation matters and are not manufacturing defects.

    5. Maintenance Requirements

Smart locks are mechanical and electronic products and require routine inspection and maintenance.

Property owners and users are responsible for:

    • Replacing batteries promptly when low-battery warnings appear
    • Checking handle tension and fixing screws
    • Ensuring latch and strike alignment remain correct
    • Inspecting strike plates, hinges, and door operation
    • Preventing avoidable water ingress where applicable
    • Keeping backup keys or backup access procedures available
    • Following product instructions and reasonable care guidance

Failure to maintain the product may result in performance issues that are not covered by warranty.

    6. Residential, Rental and Commercial Use

ArdanShield products may be used in a range of residential, rental, office, accommodation, and light commercial settings when correctly selected, installed, maintained, and used within their intended purpose.

In higher-use environments, including rentals, HMOs, hotels, serviced accommodation, offices, shared entrances, staff areas, or commercial premises:

    • Increased mechanical wear should be expected
    • Periodic inspection and adjustment may be required
    • Handles, latches, strike plates, and fixings may require tightening
    • Cosmetic wear is considered normal
    • Backup access procedures should be maintained

High-frequency use, guest misuse, tenant misuse, forced operation, abuse, accidental damage, or wear from commercial use does not automatically constitute a manufacturing defect.

    7. Electrical, Cloud and Network Considerations

For WiFi, gateway-connected, app-controlled, cloud-connected, or remote access products, reliable internet, network coverage, device compatibility, and correct gateway positioning are the responsibility of the property owner or system manager.

Signal interference, poor WiFi coverage, router issues, mobile app changes, cloud service downtime, third-party platform limitations, subscription changes, or PMS/API integration issues are not normally product faults.

ArdanShield does not guarantee uninterrupted remote connectivity, third-party platform availability, future app compatibility, or ongoing third-party service pricing unless expressly agreed in writing.

    8. Fire Safety and Compliance

Unless expressly stated in writing with supporting certification, ArdanShield does not warrant that supplied products are suitable for fire-rated doors, escape routes, regulated life-safety applications, building control approval, insurance-specific requirements, or commercial compliance environments.

The purchaser, property owner, responsible person, installer, or appointed professional must confirm suitability before installation.

    9. What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not normally cover:

    • Incorrect installation or setup
    • Unsuitable doors, frames, latches, mortices, strikes, or backsets
    • Electrical wiring errors
    • Door misalignment, hinge failure, or structural movement
    • Warped, swollen, sticking, or moving doors
    • Loose components caused by use, vibration, or lack of maintenance
    • Battery leakage, flat batteries, poor-quality batteries, or battery failure
    • Damage caused by forced entry, misuse, abuse, impact, or tampering
    • Cosmetic scratches, surface wear, fading, or finish wear
    • Water damage caused by poor fitting, unsuitable exposure, or incorrect installation

    • Labour costs for removal, refitting, installation, or reinstallation

    10. Warranty Claim Process

To submit a warranty claim, please email info@ardanshield.com and include:

    • Your order number or proof of purchase
    • A detailed description of the issue
    • Clear photos and/or video evidence
    • Confirmation of installation type and door type
    • Photos of the full door, lock position, latch/strike area, and any relevant wiring or gateway setup
    • Any troubleshooting steps already attempted

ArdanShield may request troubleshooting, photos, video evidence, installer comments, or return of the product for inspection before approving a remedy.

If no manufacturing fault is found, return shipping, inspection, replacement, or support costs may be chargeable where permitted by law.

    11. Remedies

Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, ArdanShield may provide a repair, replacement, replacement component, or other reasonable remedy.

Replacement products or components do not restart the original warranty period unless required by law or agreed in writing.

    12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ArdanShield’s liability is limited to the purchase value of the product supplied under the relevant order.

    ArdanShield is not liable for:

    • Labour, installation, removal, refitting, or reinstallation costs
    • Emergency locksmith fees
    • Property damage caused by installation decisions or third-party workmanship
    • Loss of revenue, rental loss, business interruption, or guest disruption
    • Security breaches caused by improper use, poor code management, weak passwords, or failure to maintain access control
    • Indirect, consequential, or operational losses

Nothing in this Warranty Policy limits liability where it cannot legally be limited under applicable law.

    13. Consumer Rights

This Warranty Policy is provided in addition to your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

A warranty does not replace or reduce statutory rights. Customers may still have rights to repair, replacement, refund, or price reduction where goods do not meet legal requirements.

    15. Contact Us
