These terms may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
This page provides a clear overview of ArdanShield’s operating model, responsibilities, limitations, and compliance position.
It applies to residential purchases, rental property purchases, commercial supply projects, smart lock projects, access control projects, and partner-delivered system projects unless separate written terms are agreed.
This page should be read alongside our Terms of Service, Warranty Policy, Returns & Refunds Policy, Commercial Terms, and any project-specific quotation, invoice, proposal, or agreement.
ArdanShield operates under two main supply models:
Where ArdanShield supplies smart locks, access devices, gateways, accessories, or related hardware directly, these products are sourced from third-party manufacturers and supplied by ArdanShield as product solutions.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, ArdanShield does not provide installation, electrical certification, fire compliance certification, building regulation approval, site-specific compliance sign-off, or commissioning for these products.
Where a project requires a higher level of commercial specification, certification, installation, commissioning, or staff training, ArdanShield may coordinate a solution through an approved third-party specialist partner.
In these cases, the specialist partner may supply, install, commission, configure, and train users on the system, subject to their own terms, certifications, limitations, and technical requirements.
Smart locks and access control systems must be correctly selected, installed, configured, and maintained to function safely and reliably.
Unless installation is expressly included in writing, it is the responsibility of the purchaser, installer, contractor, or property owner to ensure:
ArdanShield accepts no liability for failures arising from incorrect installation, structural movement, door misalignment, electrical faults, unsuitable door preparation, improper configuration, or installation decisions made by third parties.
Unless explicitly stated within a specific product description or written project agreement, ArdanShield does not advertise, certify, or represent ArdanShield-supplied products as fire-rated, fire-door compliant, escape-route compliant, or approved for regulated life-safety applications.
Where products or systems are installed on or within:
It is the responsibility of the purchaser, building owner, responsible person, installer, contractor, or appointed professional to verify suitability and compliance before installation.
This may include checking fire strategy, insurance requirements, building regulations, local authority requirements, landlord obligations, licensing conditions, and any applicable fire safety duties.
ArdanShield-supplied products may be suitable for many residential, rental, office, accommodation, and light commercial environments when correctly selected, installed, maintained, and used within their intended purpose.
In higher-use environments such as hotels, HMOs, serviced accommodation, rental properties, staff areas, shared entrances, or commercial premises:
Operational losses, labour costs, emergency call-outs, guest disruption, business interruption, loss of revenue, or rental income are not the responsibility of ArdanShield unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
For projects requiring full commercial-grade access control, certified systems, formal installation, commissioning, staff training, or higher-level compliance support, ArdanShield may recommend or coordinate a partner-delivered system.
Partner-delivered systems may be supplied, installed, commissioned, supported, and warranted by the appointed specialist provider, subject to their own terms and technical requirements.
ArdanShield may act as the commercial coordinator or sourcing partner, but this does not make ArdanShield the manufacturer, installer, commissioning engineer, or certifying authority.
Some products and systems may integrate with third-party cloud platforms, mobile applications, remote access services, APIs, PMS integrations, gateways, or online management tools.
Remote services may depend on external providers, internet access, local WiFi/network conditions, software availability, app updates, cloud services, subscriptions, or third-party platform stability.
ArdanShield does not guarantee uninterrupted connectivity, continued third-party platform availability, ongoing app compatibility, API availability, or future third-party service pricing unless expressly agreed in writing.
Returns are governed by our Returns & Refunds Policy.
Product defects are governed by our Warranty Policy.
Manufacturing defects may be covered under warranty. Installation errors, misuse, unsuitable doors, door misalignment, lack of maintenance, high-traffic wear, structural issues, poor fitting, environmental damage, software misuse, battery issues, and unauthorised modifications are not normally considered product faults.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ArdanShield’s liability is limited to the purchase value of the product or service supplied by ArdanShield under the relevant order.
ArdanShield is not liable for:
Nothing in this overview limits liability where it cannot legally be limited under applicable law.
Before purchasing or installing any smart lock, access control product, or system, the customer must ensure the product or system is suitable for their intended use.
This is especially important where the property includes fire doors, shared entrances, commercial premises, licensed accommodation, hotels, HMOs, escape routes, or insurance-specific requirements.
Customers should consult a qualified installer, fire safety adviser, building professional, insurer, landlord, local authority, or other competent professional where required.
