ArdanShield Smart Lock Systems Warranty Policy

    Effective Date: 20/02/2026

ArdanShield is a UK-based supplier of smart lock and access control hardware. This Warranty Policy applies to all products supplied by ArdanShield, including residential, rental, HMO and commercial environments.

Important: ArdanShield operates strictly as a supply-only business. We do not provide installation services.

    1. Scope of Warranty

ArdanShield products are covered by a 12-Month Limited Hardware Warranty.

This warranty covers defects in materials or internal electronic components under normal intended use. Where a genuine manufacturing defect is confirmed within 12 months of purchase, ArdanShield will, at its discretion:

    • Repair the product
    • Replace the product
    • Supply replacement components

The warranty period begins on the original date of purchase.

    2. Supply-Only Basis (Important)

ArdanShield supplies hardware only. We do not:

    • Provide installation
    • Provide on-site servicing
    • Certify compliance
    • Commission electrical systems
    • Guarantee door suitability

All installation, alignment, configuration and regulatory compliance remain the responsibility of the purchaser or their appointed installer.

    3. Installation Responsibility

Correct installation is essential for performance and longevity. The purchaser or installer is responsible for:

    • Accurate door preparation
    • Correct mortice or latch compatibility
    • Proper backset measurement
    • Secure fixing of all components
    • Correct strike plate positioning
    • Stable and square door frames
    • Correct electrical wiring (where applicable)

Faults caused by incorrect installation are not covered under warranty.

    4. Door Alignment & Structural Movement

Smart locks rely on correct door alignment. Doors can move due to:

    • Seasonal expansion or contraction
    • Moisture
    • Settlement of property
    • High usage
    • Hinge wear

Issues arising from door movement, latch misalignment or frame distortion are considered maintenance matters and are not manufacturing defects. Realignment or adjustment may be required periodically, particularly in high-use properties.

    5. Maintenance Requirements

Smart locks are mechanical and electronic devices. They require routine inspection and maintenance. Property owners are responsible for:

    • Replacing batteries promptly when low-battery warnings appear
    • Checking handle tension and fixings
    • Ensuring latch alignment remains correct
    • Inspecting strike plates for movement
    • Tightening screws where required
    • Preventing water ingress where applicable

Failure to maintain the product may result in performance issues not covered under warranty.

    6. Residential Use

For homeowner installations, normal daily usage is expected. The warranty does not cover:

    • Misuse
    • Forced handle operation
    • Slamming
    • Exposure to unsuitable weather conditions
    • Use on doors not structurally suitable

Cosmetic wear is not considered a defect.

    7. Rental, HMO & Commercial Use

In high-traffic environments (including rentals, HMOs, hotels, serviced accommodation and offices):

    • Increased mechanical wear is expected
    • Periodic adjustment may be required
    • Handle and latch components may require tightening
    • Cosmetic wear is considered normal

High-frequency use does not constitute a manufacturing defect. Excessive force, abuse or misuse by occupants is not covered.

    8. Electrical & Network Considerations

    For WiFi or gateway-connected products:

    • Reliable internet connectivity is the responsibility of the property owner
    • Signal interference, poor WiFi coverage or router issues are not product faults
    • Cloud services are provided via third-party platforms

ArdanShield does not guarantee uninterrupted remote connectivity. Core lock functionality remains operational locally even if remote services are temporarily unavailable.

    9. What Is Not Covered

    This warranty does not cover:

    • Incorrect installation
    • Electrical wiring errors
    • Door misalignment or hinge failure
    • Warped or moving doors
    • Loose components due to usage
    • Battery leakage or battery failure
    • Damage caused by forced entry
    • Cosmetic scratches or surface wear
    • Water damage from improper installation
    • Cleaning chemical damage
    • Third-party modifications
    • Labour costs for removal or reinstallation
    • Emergency locksmith fees
    • Business interruption or loss of income

    10. Warranty Claim Process

To submit a warranty claim, the purchaser must provide:

    • Order number
    • Detailed description of the issue
    • Clear photos and/or video evidence
    • Confirmation of installation type

ArdanShield may request the product be returned for inspection before approving a replacement. If no manufacturing fault is found, return shipping costs may be chargeable.

    11. Limitation of Liability

ArdanShield's liability is limited strictly to the replacement value of the product supplied. We are not liable for:

    • Labour or installation costs
    • Property damage
    • Loss of revenue
    • Rental loss
    • Consequential or indirect losses
    • Security breaches caused by improper use

    12. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Warranty Policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
